Prof (Ms) Kalaivani Vivehananthan obtained her BSc (Hons) from the University of Jaffna,
followed by a MSc in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Gene Technology from the
Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from
International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Jawaharlal Nehru
University, New Delhi, India. Prof K. Vivehananthan is a Ph.D. Scholar in Molecular Biology.
She is currently attached to the Department of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences,
The Open University of Sri Lanka as the Professor in Molecular Biology. In addition to Pre-
doctoral Fellowship, she has also been awarded Presidential Scholarship by the
Government of Sri Lanka and Training Programme Scholarship by the Government of India
to carry out research training in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering.
Further, she has received the Best Presenter Awards at the National and International
Forums. She has also been invited as the Chief Guest in few academic forms at both
National and International level and delivered Keynote, Plenary and Valedictory addresses
in different forums. She is very much interested in applying the knowledge of Molecular
Biology in different multidisciplinary research projects to address the national and global
needs. Her lifelong ambitions are to fulfill the needs of the academic and scientific
community.
