I am from Kandy. I obtained my first Degree in Geography subject area in 1986 from University of Peradeniya. I got my first appointment as a Graduate Teacher in 1988. I have completed PGDE with a Merit pass in 2002 and MA in Education in 1995, MPhil in Education in 2001. I was appointed as a Lecturer of Sri Lanka Teacher Educator Service in 2000. In 2002 – 2003, I received a World Bank Scholarship for study MSc in Education in the Ulster University, UK. In 2008, I received a NUFFIC Scholarship from the Netherlands to study Education and Innovations, Curriculum Development in the Cito International. In 2010, I joined as a Probationary Lecturer in Education in the Dept. of Secondary and Tertiary Education of Faculty of Education in The Open University of Sri Lanka. I have completed my PhD in Education in 2018, University of Colombo. In 2018, I was promoted as a Senior Lecturer (Gr II). In 2021, I have received Special Award for Sustainable Development and Goals Initiative for the paper entitled “Sustainable Development Goals of School Principals and Geography Subject Teachers Regarding Education for Sustainable Development” during the 2nd VAMCON held on Nov 6 -7, 2021 online in Pangasinan, Philippines. I am interesting to the subject of Education for Sustainable Development, Comparative Education, Curriculum Studies, Teacher Education, Secondary Education and Distance Education.
