Nimali Vineeshiya is a Senior Lecturer (II) in the Department of Social Studies at the Open University of Sri Lanka. She completed her sociology and anthropology special degree in English medium at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
Then she obtained her Masters in Sociology from the University of Colombo in 2017. Prior to joining the OUSL, she served as a Visiting Lecturer in Sociology in the Department of Social Sciences at Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Subsequently, she was appointed as a Lecturer (Temporary) in 2010 and she continued in the said position till 2016. In addition, she worked as a Visiting Lecturer in the External Degree Programmes and Extention Services Unit of the same university. In addition, she served as a student counselor for Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
And she was engaged in research work with different organizations like Transparency International Sri Lanka, Free Media Movement, National Secretariat for Media Reforms (NSMR), National Building Research Organization (NBRO) Sri Lanka, and collaboration with Vanderbilt University’s institute for Energy and Environment. And in her school age she was able to achieve 1st and 2nd places (all island ) “Music and Drama Competitions” from 1998–2004 as an oriental music violin player. She was awarded the annual grant of scholarship by the Sri Lanka Agonshu friendship foundation from 1996 to 2004. She enjoys volunteering, traveling, playing instruments, and vlogging with her daughter in her free time.
