Ms. R.A. Nipuni S. Wijesingha, is a Lecturer (Probationary)  in the field of Apparel Production & Management at the Open University Sri Lanka since 2022. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Industrial Studies Honours degree with a First Class – Specialized in the field of Apparel Production & Management from the the Open University Sri Lanka in 2016/2017. Later in 2019, she obtained her Master’s Degree in International Marketing Management from the University of Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy.

During her bachelors, thanks to the open and distance education mode of the open university, she had the opportunity to work as an Assistant Merchandiser at RM Holdings PVT Ltd, Negombo in 2012/2013. After completing her bachelors, she joined her university as a Temporary Demonstrator in the Department of Textile & Apparel Technology and she also worked as a Visiting Lecturer in Textile & Apparel at the Advanced Technological Institute, Gampaha, Sri Lanka in 2017. In 2019, she has undergone an internship in relation to her masters research thesis, as a Market Research Intern at Associazione Italiana Tecnologie Additive, Milan, Italy.

  • 2016/2017 –  Developing Sanitary Napkins From Corn Husk Fibers.

This research was focused on developing sanitary napkins with a natural waste product – corn husk fibers, for which a prototype was designed. The necessity of having such product development was raised due to the increased risk of cancer and other diseases caused by the use of tampons and napkins which are composed of super-absorbent gels and layers. The final product was successfully tested related to American Standard Testing Methods (ASTM) and Sri Lanka Standard Institute (SLSI) standards.

  • 2019/2020 – Italian Additive Technology Market- Data and Trends.

The main intention of this research was to elaborate specified statistics on the Additive Technology Market in Italy. The research was based on a more quantitative analysis with a self-administered questionnaire using Computer-Aided Web Interviews (CAWI) as the tool to obtain the answers from the respondents and the sample population was 76 AITA associate companies. Meanwhile, several qualitative interviews with higher professionals such as CEOs and Technical Managers of the member companies of the AITA association were also done.
